What this type asks

One of three domains tied for second largest, and the one where the examination is least forgiving of a memorised list. The task statements run from the anatomy and physiology behind a drug’s effect, through preparing and calculating and dispensing on a veterinarian’s order, to the controlled-drug inventory and the logbooks that go with it. Two ideas carry most of the questions. The first is that a technician works from an order and within a scope: the person who prescribes and the person who prepares are not the same person, and an ambiguous order is clarified rather than interpreted. The second is that a drug’s classification predicts its problems — what it does, what it interacts with, what to watch for afterwards — which is why the outline lists mechanisms and clinically relevant side effects rather than a formulary.
