Which single measure does most to prevent the spread of infection in a care facility?
What this type asks
Just over a third of the examination and by a distance the largest area, which is why it is really four subjects wearing one label. Handwashing and standard precautions, and the reasoning behind isolation. Falls, fire, choking and the limits of what a nurse aide may do in an emergency. Vital signs, positioning, and the technical procedures a nurse aide is permitted to perform. And the one that carries the most questions in practice: data collection and reporting — what you measure, what you write down, what you must tell the nurse immediately and what waits for the end of shift.
Now do it with the clock running.
70 questions in 120 minutes — about 1.7 minutes each, which is the part no amount of untimed practice prepares you for.

Frequently asked
- How many basic nursing skills questions are on the CNA?
- 21. The content outline in force publishes an item count for every content area, and it gives Physical Care Skills — Basic Nursing Skills 35% of the paper — 21 of the 60 scored questions (35%). The full-length test on this site deals that number rather than an even share, and the 2016 outline still printed in the free practice packet gives a different one.
- Is this section timed?
- Not on this page. These sets are for learning the material — each answer comes with an explanation straight away. When you want the whole paper, the full-length test runs the published clock. The real sitting is 70 questions in 120 minutes.
- Are these real questions from the test?
- No. Every question here is original, written to the published format. The real item banks are confidential and nobody outside the publisher has them.
