Prometric CNA practice test
Prometric delivers the nurse aide examination in many states, which is why its name ends up in the search. This page explains what that means for the written test, what Prometric’s own practice material costs, and then runs a free full-length practice paper in the same shape.
Prometric format
60 scored questions. 120 minutes.
That is the full clock the real paper gives you, spent on the 60 questions that count. On the day, 10 unscored pretest items share the same 120 minutes, so the real pace is about 1.7 minutes an item — this run is deliberately a little kinder than that. The questions are dealt in the proportions the content outline publishes rather than evenly. The clock starts when you press the button and submits the test when it runs out, and you will not be told whether an answer was right until the end — that is the point of a full run.
Who Prometric is, and who this site is not
Prometric is a test delivery company. In a number of states it is the organisation that administers the nurse aide examination — schedules it, runs the test centre, and reports the result. It is not the body that writes the content outline, and it is not this site.
Nothing here is affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by Prometric. The name appears on this page for one reason: to say which examination the practice material prepares you for. If your state uses a different administrator, the written examination is still built from the same published content outline, so the practice on this site applies either way — check your own state’s candidate handbook for who delivers it and how to book.
Prometric sells its own practice exams
Worth knowing before you go looking: Prometric publishes official nurse aide practice exams and charges for them. Its own page describes three versions of fifty questions with feedback at $15 each, or one combined 150-question practice test at $35 (read 2026-08-28).
That is a reasonable thing to buy and this site will not pretend otherwise — practice written by the organisation that delivers the examination is worth something. What it is not is a reason to skip free practice first. Use this page to find out which content areas you are weak in, then decide whether you still need to pay to find out the same thing.
What “the Prometric format” actually means
For the written examination it means the shape of the paper rather than a different syllabus: seventy multiple-choice questions of which ten are unscored pretest items, two hours to answer them, and a warning when fifteen minutes are left. That shape comes from the programme’s own documents, not from Prometric, which is why it does not change when your state uses a different administrator.
The other half of certification — the skills evaluation — is where the administrator is much more visible, because that is performed in front of one of their evaluators against a published checklist. Nothing on this site prepares you for that half.

- Seventy are presented and sixty are scored — the other ten are unscored pretest items that are not identified to you. You get two hours.
