A cat becomes increasingly tense as a technician tightens their hold for a blood draw. What is the appropriate adjustment?

What this type asks

One question in five, ten task statements, and the domain to revise first. It is the whole of what a technician does to a patient that is not surgery, anaesthesia or a laboratory bench: the initial and ongoing evaluation and its documentation, nursing procedures like catheterisation and wound management and bandaging, clinical procedures that feed a diagnosis, administering medication by the appropriate route, collecting specimens, and providing an environment that is safe and sanitary for the patient and for everyone working around it. Two task statements sit slightly apart and carry more questions than their length suggests: recognising and responding to a patient’s behaviour, and restraining a patient with or without equipment while following safety protocols. Both point at the same examinable idea — the least restraint that achieves the procedure safely is the correct amount, and a patient’s behaviour is information before it is an obstacle.

How many animal care and nursing questions are on the VTNE?
30. The blueprint in force publishes an item count for every content area, and it gives Animal Care and Nursing 20% of the paper — 30 of the 150 scored questions (20%). The full-length test on this site deals that number rather than an even share.
Is this section timed?
Not on this page. These sets are for learning the material — each answer comes with an explanation straight away. When you want the whole paper, the full-length test runs the published clock. The real sitting is 170 questions in 180 minutes.
Are these real questions from the test?
No. Every question here is original, written to the published format. The real item banks are confidential and nobody outside the publisher has them.
