Why is the paper supply checked before the patient is brought into the room rather than at the point of recording?

What this type asks

The largest domain on the paper, and the answer to the question this site exists to ask about this credential: what is actually examined. Forty-four of the hundred scored items are about producing a technically valid recording — maintaining the machine, verifying its settings, preparing skin, positioning a patient who may be pregnant, an amputee or short of breath, applying electrodes for a standard twelve-lead and for ambulatory, stress and telemetry monitoring and for patients needing right-sided or posterior placement, confirming every lead recorded, finding and removing artefact, mounting the strip, and staying with a patient during a stress test including when it goes wrong. None of that involves naming a rhythm.

Maintain EKG equipment (e.g. load paper, replace clips, disinfect machines and leads)Verify EKG machine settings (speed, gain)Prepare skin for electrode placementPosition the patient for cardiac testing (e.g. 3-, 5-, 12-lead, stress test, telemetry)Apply electrodes and attach leads for the standard 12-lead, ambulatory monitoring, stress testing, telemetry, and patients with special considerationsVerify that all leads were recordedIdentify and resolve artefacts from the tracing (e.g. wandering baseline, somatic, electrical)Mount a completed tracing strip for the patient’s chartAssist in monitoring the patient’s condition during stress testingProvide support in responding to complications during stress testing

Frequently asked

How many acquisition questions are on the EKG exam?
44. NHA states an item count for every area of the plan and never states a percentage, so 44 is the document's own figure — 44 of the 100 scored questions — and not a share this site worked out. The full-length test deals exactly that many from this area.
Is this section timed?
Not on this page. These sets are for learning the material — each answer comes with an explanation straight away. When you want the whole paper, the full-length test runs the published clock. The real sitting is 100 questions in 120 minutes.
Are these real questions from the test?
No. Every question here is original, written to the published format. The real item banks are confidential and nobody outside the publisher has them.
