CNA spiritual and cultural needs questions
Practice, belief, food, family and the end of life — asking rather than assuming.
II.B 1 of the 60 scored questions (2%)
A new client is admitted. How should the nurse aide find out about the client’s religious and cultural preferences?
What this type asks
The smallest area on the examination — a single scored question — and the one candidates are most likely to answer from their own assumptions. Religious practice and dietary rules, dress, modesty, language, who in a family speaks for the client, and care at the end of life. The examinable principle is consistent and simple: the client’s preference is a fact to be asked for and recorded, not inferred from a name, a country or an appearance.
Now do it with the clock running.

Frequently asked
- How many spiritual and cultural needs questions are on the CNA?
- 1. The content outline in force publishes an item count for every content area, and it gives Psychosocial Care Skills — Spiritual and Cultural Needs 2% of the paper — 1 of the 60 scored questions (2%). The full-length test on this site deals that number rather than an even share, and the 2016 outline still printed in the free practice packet gives a different one.
- Is this section timed?
- Not on this page. These sets are for learning the material — each answer comes with an explanation straight away. When you want the whole paper, the full-length test runs the published clock. The real sitting is 70 questions in 120 minutes.
- Are these real questions from the test?
- No. Every question here is original, written to the published format. The real item banks are confidential and nobody outside the publisher has them.
